Come and Behold

By Jennifer Czechowski

It’s a cliché that the holiday season is a crazy-busy time of year, but things become cliché for a reason. December comes, and there is so much to do: shopping, baking, decorating, and trying to cram in all the delights of the season. On top of that, I’m shepherding eleventh graders through The Great Gatsby while trying to manage their pre-break madness and tackling a mountain of grading at the end of a reporting period. It’s exhausting. Why, when there is so much to do that I am scouring the calendar for a free moment to go see the Christmas lights in Arnette Park, would I tack on another obligation—rehearsals for Behold?
That’s easy. Behold rehearsals aren’t really an obligation: they’re an oasis of cheer and warmth. Voices, guitars, violin, cello, flute, and penny whistle join to tell a timeless story in a beautiful setting, the sanctuary of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. It is a joy to join this chorus of hope and goodwill.
Come have some hot chocolate, eat a cookie or three, and revel in the beauty of the season with us.
