Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s beloved and raucous classic twist on classic works is back with new venues and a special guest artist!
Sweet Tea Shakespeare is excited to bring its hit drunk Shakespeare production, OthelLIT, on tour throughout the North Carolina Sandhills. This one-of-a-kind performance series takes classic works of literature and puts a unique twist on them by performing them with plenty of adult beverages in hand and plenty of audience interaction.
OthelLIT is based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello. The play tells the story of the great general Othello, who is manipulated by his evil lieutenant Iago into believing that his wife Desdemona has been unfaithful. The result is a tragic tale of jealousy, betrayal, and revenge.
STS aims to make Shakespeare accessible to everyone, and what better way to do that than by performing one of his most famous works while encouraging the audience to drink along? OthelLIT will be touring to various locations throughout the region, so check out the schedule below and come raise a glass to the Bard!

Streaming tickets may be purchased at any point in the run. A link will be sent for a recorded, on-demand stream to all streaming ticket buyers.
LIT Performances are for adults, as they blend stripped-down Shakespeare plays with improv, games, and a relaxed, pub-like environment. Underage guests and anyone showing visible signs of intoxication will not be served.

Live Music Preshow
Most of our in-person and full-length online productions feature preshow entertainment with live music featuring our house band, The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (also known as “WOCO”). Along with music, enjoy plenty of warm hospitality and ways to engage, from bidding on special seating, which we call “Chair Paravel,” to adorning Sweet Tea Shakespeare swag available for purchase, to yard games and activities.

No outside food or beverages; no coolers.
Some events have age recommendations/restrictions, e.g. STS Hours have some adult language and therefore are recommended as PG-13 appropriate, LIT events are generally for adults 18+.

We offer no refunds for purchased tickets for any reason. Please be aware we perform outdoors in high heat and humidity, and the chairs we provide are sometimes regular folding chairs. We always invite audience members to make adjustments for their own comfort, sight lines, and out of kindness for others.
Free Rain Return Tickets
On outdoor performance nights where we move indoors due to rain, you can return for free to a performance of the same production later in the run by registering in advance with our box office. Subject to availability.
