Rick Blunt, veteran of the American Shakespeare Center resident and touring companies joins Sweet Tea Shakespeare to create accessible and educational theatre workshops

Rick Blunt | Shakespeare Education Workshop

Educators, Actors, Directors, and those simply interested in learning a bit more about theatre in general, join Sweet Tea Shakespeare as we host the raucous and radical Rick Blunt, veteran of the American Shakespeare Center Resident and Touring companies, for a series of workshops ranging from audition technique to scene study, and why Rick thinks Shakespeare matters and how you can convince those around you he does too!

Picked from the ASC website:

“This guy Shakespeare was a smart man,” Blunt concludes.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the ever ebullient Blunt’s workshop was the way he engaged the students, especially the ones who were shy or trying to remain uninvolved. Participation is not an option in Rick Blunt’s workshop, and while not every student got a chance to perform, the number of volunteers increased every time he asked for them. Getting our audiences to want to engage Shakespeare on his own terms is one of our core principles, and Blunt’s success with this group is a testament to that mission.

Choose to join us for all 4 nights (full workshop $150.00)

Rick Blunt will also be joining the company for select performances of OthelLIT.

OthelLIT is based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello. The play tells the story of the great general Othello, who is manipulated by his evil lieutenant Iago into believing that his wife Desdemona has been unfaithful. The result is a tragic tale of jealousy, betrayal, and revenge.

Sweet Tea Shakespeare aims to make Shakespeare accessible to everyone, and what better way to do that than by performing one of his most famous works while encouraging the audience to drink along? OthelLIT will be touring to various locations throughout the region, so check out the schedule below and come raise a glass to the Bard!
