STS is proud to be collaborating with Chameleon Children’s Theater for its upcoming production of the Jacobean adventure comedy, The Sea Voyage.
When Captain Albert and his motley crew of French pirates are shipwrecked on a mysterious island, they soon discover they are not alone. Sebastian and his nephew Nicusa are castaways with a tragic past, desperate to get off the island and reunite with their family. As they plot to escape in the pirates’ vessel, Captain Albert and his men discover a tribe of female Amazons with their own ideas about what it takes to be a warrior. Swords clash, romance kindles, and hijinks ensue as the many inhabitants of the island face off in a final showdown that will change their lives forever. Written in classical verse by two contemporaries of William Shakespeare, The Sea Voyage is a swashbuckling comedy that’s fun for the whole family.
Co-directed by Green Tea instructor Traycie Kuhn-Zapata and Chameleon Children’s Theater Artistic Director Brian Adam Kline, The Sea Voyage will be a fully staged production captured on film. By joining Green Tea, young actors will have the opportunity to dig into a classical text, explore diverse characters, and collaborate in costume and scenic design against the backdrop of a professional filming process.
Registration and audition are required for entry into the programs and there are limited spots available.

In Green Tea, students experience wonder, hard work, and collaboration. They’re invited to engage in empathy.
Green Tea & Little Green Tea are unlike your run-of-the-mill enrichment program. Instead, participants become true members of the Sweet Tea Shakespeare company and community, engaging in the planning and production of rich work, participating in our main stage productions along side professionals and emerging professionals. Participants drive the conversation about the work they create, developing leadership skills and shaping habits that will benefit them for a lifetime. At this time Green Tea & Little Green Tea will be using Zoom for classes as needed.
Green Tea & Little Green Tea foster deep learning.
Green Tea (ages 12-17) and Little Green Tea (ages 4-11) bring Shakespeare to young adults and children in a fresh way, encouraging them to find joy in stories old and new, working towards mastery of language, character building, and problem-solving. Through Green Tea and Little Green Tea, we aim to develop a community of storytellers, people of grit and determination, and curious humans who work together to discover the wonder of performing Shakespeare, making friends, and delighting in play.
During our regular Green Tea and Little Green Tea sessions, students will learn to work as an ensemble to make authentic theatre focused on collaboration, cognitive skills, confidence, and joy. Young adults and children alike will be introduced to acting techniques, scene study, improvisation, physical work, and study of Shakespeare’s language over the course of a year. The program will culminate in a full performance at least once each year. These young companies also regularly contribute to our main stage productions.
